If your Ooma Office account services multiple businesses or departments, it may be advantageous for an employee like a receptionist to know the specific business or department that an incoming caller is attempting to reach. Prepending the name of a Ring Group to an incoming call’s caller-ID entry makes this information easily accessible to the person answering the phone.

You can enable this feature by following these instructions:

  1. Log in to office.ooma.com as an administrator and navigate to the Settings page.
  2. Select the Ring Group you’d like to manage.
  3. Go to the Basic tab and check the Prepend Caller ID option. Fill the Prepend to caller ID field with the name you’d like to add to the Ring Group’s caller IID.
  4. Save your changes.

Now, incoming calls to that Ring Group will display the name in the Prepend to caller ID field followed by the caller’s name on the caller-ID of the phone that is ringing.
