How to manage Ooma Business Messaging for a group phone number like a Ring Group
If you would like to enable Ooma Business Texting from a shared number like a Ring Group or Virtual Receptionist, follow these instructions:
- Log in to office.ooma.com as an administrator and navigate to the System page.
- Click the MESSAGING tab.
- Click the number you’d like to update. You must contact Customer Care if you’d like to enable messaging on a new number.
- If this is the first time you have updated the member list for phone number, click ADD MEMBERS to edit the approved texting list. Otherwise, click Edit members.
- Click to add new users from the list on the left. Click to remove existing users from the list on the right.
- Click SAVE.
NOTE: Keep in mind that some older Ooma Office accounts may allow any user to text from shared numbers until this setting is updated. Shared phone numbers for newer accounts will default to being available only to the pool of users selected by the account administrator.
