When you use Business Texting for the first time, you will be prompted to select your preferred phone number for texting if your company has more than one available number.

Important: You can only see messages that were sent and received with the number that you are currently using to text. When you change the number you are texting with, keep in mind that messages sent and received from the old number will no longer be visible. You can recover those messages by following the instructions below to change your Business Texting number back to the original number.

You can change the phone number you are texting with by following these instructions:

Desktop application

  1. Click settings to go to the Settings page.
  2. Click Profile.
  3. Navigate to “Default number used for texting.”
  4. Use the dropdown menu to select the new default number for texting. You can choose from any of your own direct phone numbers, as well as the company’s main number.

To change the default number for a specific message:

  1. Click messages1 or messages2 to go to the Messages page.
  2. Click the tab for the phone number you would like to use for texting and begin chatting.

Ooma Office Manager

  1. Navigate to the Account page.
  2. Under the Profile tab, navigate to the “Default number used for texting” section.
  3. Use the dropdown menu to select the new default number for texting. You can choose from any of your own direct phone numbers, as well as the company’s main phone number.

iOS

  1. Make sure you have installed the Ooma Office app on your mobile device and that you are logged in.
  2. Tap More in the bottom navigation bar.
  3. Tap Messaging Inbox.
  4. Choose the phone number you would like to use for texting.

Android

  1. Make sure you have installed the Ooma Office app on your mobile device and that you are logged in.
  2. Open the Settings menu and tap Preferences.
  3. Tap Messaging.
  4. Choose the phone number you would like to use for texting.

Important: You can only see messages that were sent and received with the number that you are currently using to text.
