Once you have set up professional monitoring with Ooma Smart Security, you can choose which sensors will trigger emergency intervention. When one of your sensors triggers an alarm, here’s what will happen:

  1. You will have a grace period of 60 seconds (by default) to cancel the alarm through the app or the Ooma Keypad. If you do this, no action will be taken.
  2. If the grace period expires without the alarm being canceled, the professional monitoring team will contact your contacts in the order you specified during setup.
    • If the professional monitoring team reaches a contact and the correct safe word is given, the team will work with the contact to determine whether emergency personnel should be dispatched.
    • If the professional monitoring team reaches a contact and the incorrect safe word is given, the team will automatically dispatch emergency personnel to the home address.
    • If the professional monitoring team does not reach a contact, they will automatically dispatch emergency personnel to the home address.

Please note that Ooma offers professional monitoring for water sensors, but police and fire personnel will never be dispatched if a water sensor triggers an alarm.
