Getting Started

The Pro Security Plan for Ooma Smart Security includes professional home monitoring services. You can sign up for this service by following these instructions:

1. Log into the Ooma Smart Security app.
2. Open the More menu.
3. Tap Professional Monitoring.
4. Tap Activate.
5. Follow the setup process within the app to:
   • Accept the EULA.
   • Confirm you home address.
   • Set up one or more emergency contacts.
   • Pick a safe word that everyone in your contact list will be able to remember in the event that they receive a call from professional monitoring.
   • Choose which Smart Security sensors trigger emergency intervention (existing users only). Don’t worry; you can change these options at any time.
6. Make sure to add Ooma Monitoring (1-844-807-1656) as a contact in your phone.
7. Check your email for further instructions from Ooma.

Memorize Your Household’s Safe Word

The first thing professional monitoring personnel will request if they need to contact you is your household’s safe word.

Permit Applications

Some jurisdictions require one or more permits before they will dispatch emergency personnel to your home for alarm system. If you live in one of these jurisdictions, you will need to apply for any appropriate permits.

Once you have opted in to professional monitoring, Ooma will use your address to determine whether you will need a permit to operate your home security system. We will provide you with the information you need to apply for the appropriate permits, but you will be responsible for completing and submitting the applications.

Practice Mode

Once you have activated professional monitoring services, you will receive an email stating that your service is in Practice Mode. Practice Mode will let you explore the system’s new features without having to worry about false alarms. It will turn off automatically in seven days. If you’d like to turn off Practice Mode sooner, you can do that in the Smart Security app by visiting Professional Monitoring under the More menu.
