What is the Nest Alerts feature?

The Nest Alerts feature allows you to link your Ooma and Nest accounts together to tap into their combined power. There are three powerful options that you can enable once you link your accounts together:

  • Follow Me: When Nest Learning Thermostat detects that no one is at home, your calls will be automatically forwarded to your cell phone or mobile app according to your call forwarding preferences. When Nest detects that someone has returned home, call forwarding will be disabled so that calls will once again ring your home phones.

Reference: Learn more about call forwarding by visiting our FAQ.

  • Alarm monitoring: If your Nest Protect detects smoke or if its carbon monoxide alarm goes off, you’ll receive a call to let you know. You can trigger a call to emergency response personnel that will originate from your home phone number, so emergency responders will see your home address.
  • Check-in monitoring: If you’re expecting kids or an elderly family member to arrive home during a certain time period, check-in monitoring can give you some peace of mind. You can set up the days of the week and times when you’re expecting your loved one to arrive home, and if no one arrives home during that time you’ll receive a phone call to alert you.

Please note that as of August 2019, Nest no longer accepts new connections. Existing connections remain active for users who integrated their systems prior to August 2019.
