Do I need to purchase equipment from Ooma to be able to sign up for an Ooma Office account?

When you sign up for an Ooma Office for Mobile account, you do not need to purchase any equipment. You can get started placing, receiving, and transferring calls right away once you have one or more smart phones with the Ooma Office mobile calling app installed.

How much does Ooma Office for Mobile cost?

With Ooma Office for Mobile, you only pay for the service that you use. Service starts at $19.95/month for US customers, and CAD $24.95/month for Canadian customers. Our basic service comes with one phone number and one user extension. From there, our pricing structure is as follows:

  • Each user extension, which comes with a local phone number, costs $19.95/month for US customers and CAD $24.95 for Canadian customers
  • Each additional local phone number costs $9.95/month for US customers and CAD $14.95/month for Canadian customers
  • The first toll-free number is free, and additional toll-free numbers each cost $9.95/month for US customers and $14.95/month for Canadian customers

The following extension types do not carry any monthly fees:

  • Virtual receptionist
  • Conference service (includes its own phone number)
  • Ring groups

How do I make and receive phone calls?

When you register for Ooma Office for Mobile, your first extension is created automatically. You may make and receive phone calls from this extension right away once you have downloaded the Ooma Office mobile calling app to your iOS or Android device. You can also customize your first extension and add additional extensions if necessary by using the Express Setup Assistant online.

Can I integrate regular cell phones and fixed line phones into my Ooma Office setup?

Yes. You may set up regular cell phones and fixed line phones as extensions that can receive incoming calls and calls that have been transferred to you.

How can I get started with the virtual receptionist?

The virtual receptionist can help give your small business a big-business feel by automatically answering and directing incoming calls. How can I add additional phone extensions?

How many phone numbers can I add?

You can add up to 20 local and toll-free phone numbers. You can learn more about adding regular phone numbers and toll-free phone numbers, and about assigning phone numbers by visiting the respective FAQs.

How do I send and receive faxes?

All Ooma Office users can send faxes through our online interface free of charge. To send a fax, log into the Ooma Office web portal as an End User. From there, simply attach a file, enter the phone number, and hit send.

In order to receive faxes electronically, you must set up one or more Internet fax extensions. Each fax extension comes with a dedicated phone number. Once you have set up an Internet fax extension, all incoming faxes to the phone number assigned to that extension are forwarded as attachments to an email address that you specify.

I have different departments in my company. Can I create ring groups?

Yes, you may create ring groups. Each ring group extension will ring multiple user extensions either at the same time or one after another. The first person to answer will take the call. If no one answers, the call can be sent to voicemail or transferred to another extension. You can learn more by visiting the ring groups FAQ.

How does the conference service work?

The conference service is a conference bridge that comes that comes with a dedicated phone number and allows up to 10 simultaneous conference calls. Each conference call has its own ID and can support up to 10 participants. To get started, please review the conference server FAQ.

Can I port one or more of my current business phone numbers to Ooma?

Yes. The account administrator can submit one or more number porting requests using the Ooma Office web portal. There is no cost to port your existing number or numbers over. Porting your toll-free number is also supported. You can learn more by visiting our number porting FAQ.

Can I place 911 calls from the Ooma Office mobile app?

By default, if there is a cellular signal available then the Ooma Office mobile app will use your regular cellular connection to place the 911 call. In this case, there is no difference between using the Ooma Office mobile app and your phone’s native dialer.

If your mobile device does not have cellular service, then your phone will use its Wi-Fi network and send the call to an emergency call center. In this case, you will need to state your current location.

If you have no cellular service and no Wi-Fi service, then you will not be able to place a 911 call from your cell phone. In this case, you will need to find another phone to place your 911 call.
