For new customers who are activating their first Ooma device, welcome to the Ooma family! There are three ways that you can acquire an Ooma unit: purchasing a new device, purchasing a refurbished device, or purchasing a used device. If you acquired your used Ooma device through a friend or family or online through a site such as Ebay or Craigslist, chances are high that your device was previously activated. If that is the case, then you will need to reactivate the device with your own personal information.

How can I reactivate my used device?
You can check whether your device has already been activated by visiting the activation page and typing in the activation code or MAC address on your device. If the device has previously been activated, you’ll receive instructions on how to contact our Customer Care team to clear the device’s current settings and reactivate it with your personal information. Reactivating an Ooma device requires a one-time fee. For our current price list, please see this page.
Important: Please note that used Ooma devices and refurbished devices are subject to different reactivation terms. If your Ooma device is refurbished it will be treated just like a new unit, meaning that you can activate it online without paying a reactivation fee.
What do I do once my device has been reactivated?
Once your device has been reactivated, you can set it up by following the instructions starting in Step 2 of the Activation and Setup tutorial. You will also find answers to many frequently asked questions in the Ooma Knowledge Base and forums.
Does a reactivated unit comes with a trial of Ooma Premier?
Yes! Once your Ooma device has been re-activated, a new two month free trial of Ooma Premier will be added to your account.
What is the warranty on a reactivated Ooma device?
Reactivated devices do not come with a warranty, as they have not been sold through an official Ooma dealer.
What is the difference between a used device and a refurbished device?
Refurbished devices are units that have been returned to Ooma and which have been restored to factory new condition, tested for functionality and repackaged for sale. Refurbished Ooma products do not need to be reactivated and come with our standard one-year warranty. You can learn more by reading our refurbished devices FAQ.
Used devices are units that have been purchased from an unauthorized retailer such as a friend or family member, or sites such as Ebay or Craigslist. Used Ooma products must be reactivated before they can be used again and do not come with a warranty.
Important: Amazon.com is an authorized retailer of Ooma products, but this only pertains to products sold and shipped by Amazon.com. Products sold and shipped through “Amazon Marketplace” may come from unauthorized retailers, meaning that products purchased through that channel may be subject to a reactivation fee on top of the purchase price.
I bought a used device and it doesn’t work, what should I do?
If you purchased a used device from an unauthorized retailer, please keep in mind that you do so at your own risk. Ooma cannot guarantee product acquired outside of official channel partners will arrive in good working condition, or that you will not be charged a reactivation fee in addition to your purchase price if your device was previously used. We suggest that you address any concerns or complaints about your used Ooma device with the seller in order to reach a satisfactory resolution.
