How does pay-as-you-go calling work?

Once you own an Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie, you can make unlimited domestic calls, and to any other Ooma account worldwide. If you are interested in calling other countries, adding funds to your prepaid account will allow you to get started right away. You can do this by logging into your My Ooma account and navigating to the Prepaid Calling tab under Add-Ons. You can add funds to your account in increments as low as $10.00!

Note: International calling is subject to local laws, regulations, and the Ooma Terms of Service.

How can I check my prepaid account balance?

You can check your balance by logging into My Ooma and looking at the Prepaid Account widget on your Dashboard. It is also displayed in on the Prepaid Account page under the Account tab.

How can I see recent activity on my prepaid account?

You can see recent activity on your prepaid account by logging into My Ooma and looking at the Prepaid Account page under the Account tab. You will see a list of charges that have been recently made to your prepaid account. Prepaid call records are kept for 90 days.

What can I use the money in my prepaid account to do?

The money in your prepaid account can be used to make international phone calls that are not covered under any bundles you may have subscribed to. You can also use the account to pay for premium services such as directory assistance (411).

Your pay-as-you-go account may not be used to pay for any add-ons that you choose to subscribe to. Those will be billed separately to your credit card on file.

What happens if I run out of prepaid money during a phone call?

You’ll hear a warning beep when you have two minutes left. If you choose to continue talking, the call will automatically disconnect when your pay-as-you-go account runs out of money. You’ll be alerted on the phone when your call gets disconnected that your prepaid account has insufficient funds to complete the call.

What is the minimum amount of money I can put into my pay-as-you-account to get started?

In order to get started, you must put at least $10.00 USD into your prepaid account. You can also choose to add funds in $25, $50, or $100 increments. Don’t worry about overpaying for the call you want to make right now – money you add won’t ever expire or be subject to holding fees.

I’ve accidentally added too much money to my prepaid account! What can I do?

At this time, there is no way to undo a transaction of money into your prepaid account. If you find that you’ve accidentally added too much to your account, you have two options:

  1. You can contact Customer Care and request that the transfer be canceled.
  2. You can let the money remain in your prepaid account until you’re ready to use it. Don’t worry – it won’t expire and you’ll never be charged a monthly fee!

Does money I’ve added to my prepaid account expire?

Never. And you’ll never be charged monthly fees to have the money in your account, either.

Note: Promotional minutes in your prepaid account do expire 180 days after they are added.

How do I use my promotional minutes or credits for international calling?

Once in a while, Ooma will offer promotional minutes or prepaid calling credits to new customers. When you activate your Ooma Telo Base Station or Phone Genie and create your My Ooma account, these minutes will be automatically added to your pay-as-you-go account. Even if you choose to add additional prepaid time, your promotional minutes will be deducted first. Please note that promotional minutes expire 180 days after they are credited to your account.

Note: You can stretch your promotional minutes further by subscribing to an international calling plan.
