- Email: You will receive an email for each notification.
- SMS: You will receive a text message for each notification.
Can I use Ooma Home Security to dial 911?
The 911 button in the Ooma Home Security app allows you to dial 911 as if you were calling from your home phone and using your home address. This means that you can reach your home’s local emergency services from anywhere in the US or Canada, and that the 911 dispatcher will automatically receive your home address and phone number when the call connects. This information will allow the operator to dispatch emergency services to your home as quickly as possible.
When you push the 911 button in the app, you will be asked to confirm that you wish to dial emergency services from your home address, along with which phone you are using (e.g. cell phone, work phone, etc.). You will then see a prompt telling you that you will receive a call to the phone you have selected shortly. When you pick up the call, you will need to press “1” to confirm that you wish to dial 911.
How can I change my e911 address?
The e911 address that you have on file will determine where emergency personnel will be directed when 911 is dialed for any reason from your Ooma phone or through the Ooma Home Security app. You can learn more about e911, including how to update your address, by visiting our 911 FAQ.
Is my Ooma Home Security setup monitored by a person?
No. Ooma Home Security puts you in the driver’s seat. When the system detects an event, it alerts you via phone call, SMS, email, or push notifications. Once an alert has been issued, the Ooma Home Security app allows you to trigger a 911 call to the emergency personnel nearest your home, regardless of where you are in the world.
Can Ooma Home Security support third-party sensors?
You cannot currently pair third-party sensors such as the Nest smoke detector directly with the Ooma Telo through Ooma Home Security at this time.
Many third-party products can be integrated with the Ooma Telo without going through the Ooma Home Security app. Ooma Premier subscribers can learn more about connecting Nest with the Ooma Telo by visiting our Nest FAQ, and more about creating a connected home with other smart devices by visiting our IFTTT overview FAQ.
